The essentials in three lines
- Founty for the beach on foot, the centre and Talborjt for doing everything on foot, Dakhla for the airport, the Marina and Taghazout Bay for the north coast.
- With a car, first ask your accommodation where to park it at night. The rules for public parking are changing in Agadir: go by the signs on the spot.
- At Carsalis, delivery is free in Agadir: hotel, airport or city centre. For Taghazout Bay, say so in your request.
Tickets bought, car booked: all that is left is to choose where to sleep in Agadir. Accommodation websites list Founty, Talborjt, Marina or Taghazout Bay without saying what difference it makes when you have a car: where to park it in the evening, how long it takes to get to the airport, which way to leave town. Here are our answers, area by area, with distances calculated in October 2026 from OpenStreetMap data.
Founty and the bay: the beach on foot, the airport about 25 minutes away
Founty takes up the southern part of the bay, about 3 km from our office. On OpenStreetMap, it is one of the areas with the most hotels and residences, right by the sea. You walk to the beach and use the car for excursions.
Al Massira airport is about 22.5 km and 25 minutes away without traffic, via Avenue Mohammed V and then national road 10, according to the OSRM route planner. For the north coast, you have to cross the whole city: about 26.5 km to Taghazout. Before booking, ask the hotel in writing whether it has a car park and whether it is supervised at night. If you only want to drive for a few days, have the car delivered to your hotel on the day you choose, free of charge in Agadir: see our article on delivering the car to your hotel.
The centre, Talborjt and the Marina: the city on foot, the car for getting out
The city centre and Talborjt, just to the north, are where the shops and many hotels are. Our office is close by, on rue Moulay Driss. The airport is 23 or 23.5 km away, about 25 minutes without traffic, and Taghazout 24 or 24.5 km. It is the most practical choice for doing everything on foot.
The downside is parking: do not necessarily count on a space outside the door. If the building has no parking, ask before you arrive where residents park. Since May 2026, the Amalway bus line has linked the port and the Marina to Tikiouine via Avenues Mohammed V, Kettani and Hassan II, then Dakhla, on dedicated lanes. Never stop in these lanes, not even to unload a suitcase.
The Marina, at the northern end of the bay just before the port, brings together residences and shops around a marina with room for 316 boats. Of the city areas presented here, it is the closest to the north coast: about 22.5 km and 21 minutes to Taghazout. On the other hand, it is the furthest from the airport, at about 26 km.
Dakhla and Taghazout Bay: motorway side or ocean side
Dakhla, east of the centre, is the Ibn Zohr University district. On OpenStreetMap, it has few hotels. Of the areas in this article, it is the closest to the airport: about 19 km and 21 minutes without traffic. It is also on the right side for the Marrakech motorway: the route calculated by OSRM from our office goes along Boulevard Hassan I, on the edge of Dakhla, then takes national road 1. On the other hand, Taghazout is about 28.5 km away.
Taghazout Bay is a 615-hectare seaside resort at km 17 on the Essaouira road, national road 1, a few minutes from the village of Taghazout. Here, almost every outing is by car: about 18 to 21 km to our office, 40.5 to 43 km to the airport, or 40 to 50 minutes without traffic. In August 2025, Le360 described the Essaouira road as the only access to this coast, with more than 30,000 vehicles a day in summer and long tailbacks at peak times. Details in our article Agadir – Taghazout by car.
Taghazout Bay is not within the city of Agadir: mention it in your booking request, and we will confirm the delivery and collection terms.
The areas compared: airport, north coast, car
Road distances calculated with OSRM in October 2026, without traffic or stops, from the OpenStreetMap marker for each area (our office for the city centre). At busy times, allow considerably more: we advise returning the car 2 hours before your flight.

Parking in Agadir: free, paid and attendants
The municipality of Agadir made its car parks free on 31 December 2021, until further notice. In early October 2026, according to Le360, several of these spaces were still free, but a draft agreement for a paid parking service, in underground car parks and dedicated areas, was on the agenda of the municipal council meeting of 7 October. The rules may therefore vary from one car park to another and change: check the signs, and ask your accommodation what applies in its street.
You will probably also come across parking attendants in high-visibility vests. In October 2024, Le360 reported unauthorised attendants asking for money near government offices, tourist establishments and shops, despite the free parking announced by the municipality. Stay polite, and leave nothing visible inside the car. Finally, do not park on a pavement, in a bus lane or in front of a garage exit: our rental conditions make the hirer responsible for any fines.
For several months: what winter visitors look for
For a winter in Agadir, you do not choose your area the way you would for a week. With a car, the first criterion is a parking space or a garage in the residence: check that it is included in the accommodation rent. Next come everyday shops within walking distance: the centre, Talborjt and Dakhla are well suited, and the souk El Had lies between the centre and Dakhla. The Amalway line, which serves the Marina, the centre and Dakhla, lets you leave the car parked for trips around town.
As for the hire itself, our conditions stay the same: hire counted in 24-hour blocks, unlimited mileage, 24/7 assistance, and a €10 cleaning fee charged only once per booking. See also our article on hiring a car for a month in Agadir. Finally, under Article 2 of Law 52-05, a foreign driver may drive in Morocco on a valid foreign licence for a maximum of one year from the start of their temporary stay.
