The essentials in three lines

  • Eight easy outings with children, all no more than 30 minutes' drive from central Agadir when the roads are clear.
  • On Mondays, the souk El Had and the Mémoire d'Agadir museum are closed: keep that day for the Crocoparc, the Médina or the kasbah of Agadir Oufella, which are open every day.
  • With a 2- or 3-year-old: one outing in the morning, back for the nap, and a car seat requested when you book.

You are in Agadir with children, for the October school holidays or a longer stay. After two days on the beach, the question comes up: what else is there to do without spending the day in the car? Here are eight simple outings, with the driving time from Al Amal square when the roads are clear, the parking where it is known, and the closing days.

In town: the beach, Agadir Oufella and the Olhão Garden

The beach in the bay. According to the regional tourist office, the bay of Agadir is sheltered from the wind and the swell, and its beaches can be reached from the seafront promenade. The office states that they are supervised during the summer months; whatever the season, stay next to the children as soon as they are in the water.

Agadir Oufella. The kasbah, a fortress founded in the 16th century, overlooks the bay. Its official website lists it as open every day, from 10am to 7pm in normal hours and until 8pm in summer (checked in early October 2026). It mentions a car park halfway up the hill, as well as a footpath, a shuttle bus and taxis. With children, the cable car is simpler: it takes you straight to the kasbah. Its lower station, at the foot of the hill, is about 3 km from the centre. According to the Danialand website, the ride up takes 7 to 14 minutes and the cable car runs from 10am to 10pm (checked in early October 2026, check again before you go).

The Olhão Garden. About a kilometre from Al Amal square, this garden with shady paths and little wooden bridges is home to the Mémoire d'Agadir museum, devoted to the earthquake of 29 February 1960. According to an online travel guide, the museum is closed on Mondays: check before you come. Its photos of the destruction are better suited to older children; the little ones will enjoy the garden.

The souk El Had and the Médina d'Agadir

The souk El Had, about 3 km from the centre, covers 13 hectares behind its ramparts, according to its website. It is closed on Mondays. It has several supervised car parks, which fill up quickly from mid-morning onwards and at weekends. Come early on a weekday morning, and note the number of the gate you came in by so you can find the car again.

The Médina d'Agadir, in Ben Sergao, recreates a traditional medina; Coco Polizzi started building it in 1992. It has spaces devoted to craftspeople, and its website mentions a playground for children. It is about 6 km away, or 10 minutes by car according to its website. It is open every day from 9am to 6pm; only its restaurant closes on Tuesdays. Its website says nothing about parking.

The Crocoparc, the easiest outing with a toddler

The Crocoparc is in Drarga, on the N8 national road, about 14 km from the centre: allow 15 to 25 minutes. More than 300 Nile crocodiles live there in a wooded botanical garden, along with giant tortoises and iguanas. According to the park's website: parking nearby, a park accessible with pushchairs, toilets with a baby-changing area, high chairs in the restaurant and two playgrounds. It is open 7 days a week; in early October 2026 it listed 10am to 6pm, hours that change with the seasons. In winter, the park warns, the crocodiles can go more than three months without eating: don't promise the children they will see feeding time.

On the north coast: Anza and Taghazout

Anza. About 8 km north along the N1, or 10 to 15 minutes, Anza has a redeveloped seafront promenade, with children's playgrounds and green spaces. On the seafront, rocks bear dinosaur footprints around 85 million years old, according to the tourist office. The office states that you need to come at low tide to see them. Check the tide times, promise nothing, and bring shoes with a good grip.

Taghazout. About 23 km away, or 20 to 30 minutes, this fishing village is also the meeting point for the region's surfers. The tourist office considers its main beach ideal for swimming, and recommends the cove of La Source, a few hundred metres to the north, for a family day out. For parking, see our article Agadir – Taghazout by car.

With a 2- or 3-year-old: 30 minutes' drive at most

All these outings are no more than 30 minutes' drive away when the roads are clear: beyond that, the car seat starts to feel long for a toddler. Plan the outings around the nap: a visit in the morning, back to the hotel to sleep, the beach in the late afternoon. Or set off at nap time for the Crocoparc or Taghazout: your child may well fall asleep on the way.

On the beach, bring your own shade: a parasol or small tent, water, a hat. In the evening it is cooler: in October, the lows are around 18 °C, and they drop in November and December. Keep a cardigan and a windbreaker in the boot.

As for the car, a baby or child car seat is available as an option, at €10 for the whole rental: mention it in your booking request, with the child's age, and read our article on baby seats in hire cars in Morocco. Delivery is free in Agadir, at the airport, at your hotel or in the town centre. Family cars are part of our fleet : their price is given on request.

Cool days, rain, Mondays: plan B

It rarely rains in Agadir in October: 2 to 3 rainy days in the month on average over 2015-2024, barely more in November, according to the Open-Meteo archives. On a rainy day, think of the Mémoire d'Agadir museum, which is indoors, and keep the beach and Anza for the next day; on a cool day, the souk, the Médina or the kasbah. On Mondays, choose the Crocoparc, the Médina or Agadir Oufella.

On all these outings, stay on tarmac: our rental conditions prohibit unpaved tracks, unless the vehicle is expressly suited to them.
