The essentials in three lines
- In October, Agadir keeps its summer afternoons, 26°C on average, and a sea at around 21°C. The nights get cooler and rain stays rare: about two rainy days in the month.
- The wave season is back on the north coast and, from mid-October, saffron flowers in Taliouine: good reasons to hit the road, always on tarmac.
- During the October school holidays, book early: send your request on WhatsApp with your flight number and your exact arrival time.
You are coming to Agadir in October, for a week or for the school holidays, and you are wondering what to pack and what to do. October is a month of transition: still summer in the afternoon, already autumn in the early morning. Here are the weather figures, what they mean for swimming and driving, and the drives out by car that are worth the detour.
October weather in Agadir, in figures
The 1991-2020 climate normals for the Agadir-Inezgane station, published by the World Meteorological Organization and NOAA, give an average maximum temperature of 26°C in October, the same as in September. The difference is at night: the average minimum drops to about 17°C, compared with nearly 19°C in September. Pack a jumper for the evenings.
The same series counts on average five days a month above 30°C, and one or two above 35°C. On those days, air out a car that has been parked in the sun before setting off, and keep water on board.
As for rain, October marks the end of the dry summer: 21 mm on average over the month, compared with 4 mm in September, with about two days of at least 1 mm of rain. The vast majority of days stay dry. The days get shorter: nearly 12 hours of daylight on 1 October, barely more than 11 hours on the 31st, and the sun sets half an hour earlier by the end of the month. For a day trip, set off in the morning.
Morning fog: about one day in eight
In the weather observations (METAR) from Agadir Al Massira airport archived by the Iowa Environmental Mesonet, over the Octobers from 2015 to 2024, we counted fog on about one day in eight. It almost always appears between the end of the night and mid-morning, then clears.
If you set off at dawn, especially towards the airport, switch on your dipped headlights, leave bigger gaps and slow down. If you are not tied to a schedule, wait until mid-morning. For an early-morning flight, allow plenty of time: we recommend returning the car 2 hours before take-off.
Swimming and waves: the bay on one side, the north coast on the other
The water stays pleasant: according to Open-Meteo marine data, its temperature off Agadir averaged around 21°C in October from 2023 to 2025, between 20.5 and 22°C depending on the year.
What changes is the ocean. The Souss-Massa regional tourism development company (SDRT) puts the best surf conditions between September and March, whereas in summer the sea can stay flat for long periods. For swimming, Agadir bay remains the right choice: the Moroccan National Tourist Office describes its waters as calmer, and those of Taghazout as rougher. Further north, people come to surf or to watch the surfers. Wherever you are, ask locally about the currents.
Four drives out by car, all on tarmac roads
Distances, times and road surfaces checked on OpenStreetMap (OSRM route planner) in October 2026. These are non-stop times: add your breaks, and check road conditions before setting off after heavy rain.
Taghazout and Cap Ghir : the surf village is about twenty kilometres north on the N1, and the wave season is back there. The Cap Ghir lighthouse is about twenty kilometres further on, beside the same road; the last few metres to the lighthouse are a dirt track: stop where the tarmac ends and finish on foot. Route and parking: see Agadir – Taghazout by car.
Paradise Valley : the road is tarmac up to the car park, then the SDRT counts a 30-minute walk to the pools. If heavy rain is forecast, postpone. Details in Agadir – Paradise Valley by car.
Taroudant : according to the SDRT, the town is surrounded by 7 km of ramparts pierced by 9 gates. October afternoons there are hotter than in Agadir, around 30°C on average according to Open-Meteo historical records (2001-2025): save the ramparts for the end of the day. The route is described in Agadir – Taroudant by car.
Taliouine and saffron : about 186 km on the N10, tarmac all the way and passing a few kilometres from Taroudant; allow 2½ to 3 hours. According to an FAO technical guide on Taliouine-Taznakht saffron, flowering generally begins in mid-October and lasts about three weeks, and the flowers are picked early in the morning, between 5 and 8 am. The date varies from one year to the next: check before you set off. To see the picking, stay the night and take a jacket: according to the same Open-Meteo records, mornings there are on average 4°C cooler than in Agadir.
