The essentials in three lines
- From the centre of Agadir, allow about 25 minutes' driving to Taghazout or the airport, 3 hours to Essaouira, Tafraoute or Marrakech, and nearly 6 hours to Ouarzazate.
- Route planners assume a clear road and no stops: we add a break every two hours, as NARSA recommends, then a 20% margin.
- According to OpenStreetMap, all 20 destinations can be reached on tarmac, and mileage on our rentals is unlimited.
You have a car in Agadir and a wish list: a beach to the north, a medina, a mountain village, perhaps Marrakech. Before you choose, you want to know how long each outing really takes, not the optimistic figure on your phone. Here is our table: 20 destinations on tarmac, with the distance, the driving time, the time to allow and the most pleasant season.
Where these figures come from
The distances and driving times come from the OSRM route planner, based on OpenStreetMap data, starting from the centre of Agadir. The figures were taken on 4 October 2026. These times assume a clear road and no stops: they are a minimum, not a forecast.
The “Time to allow” column adds a break of around twenty minutes every two hours: NARSA, the national road safety agency, advises stopping at least every two hours. The second figure adds a 20% margin for the villages you pass through and for lorries. With children, go by the upper end of the range.
Each route was checked on OpenStreetMap: tarmac all the way, except the end of the descent to Legzira beach. Times to allow are rounded up to the next quarter of an hour, or to the next 5 minutes for trips under an hour. Roads change with roadworks: run a new calculation the day before you leave.

Why kilometres don't tell the whole story
Marrakech is 248 km away, Tafraoute 166 km: yet both take about 3 hours of driving. Towards Marrakech, most of the journey is on the motorway, limited to 120 km/h according to NARSA. Towards Tafraoute, the R105 runs through Biougra and Aït Baha, on a much slower road. The same contrast near Agadir: Taghazout is reached in 25 minutes, Imouzzer in 1 hour 15 for 35 km more, because the road climbs up to the village, perched at an altitude of 1,250 m according to the regional tourist office. In the mountains, go by the upper end of the range and drive in daylight.
The right season for each destination
The last column is based on the 2016-2025 average temperatures published by Open-Meteo: “all year round” when the average maximum does not exceed 34 °C, even in August; otherwise, the months when it stays below 31 °C.
The coast can be visited all year round: in August, the average maximum is around 25 to 26 °C in Mirleft, Sidi Ifni or Essaouira. Inland, it reaches about 39 °C in Marrakech and Taroudant in July and August, and 40 to 41 °C in Tata. In January, nights are cold at altitude: the average minimum drops to around 2 °C in Ouarzazate and 4 °C in Taliouine.
Three dates for the diary. Taliouine saffron generally flowers from mid-October, for about three weeks, according to an FAO guide. The regional tourist office mentions almond trees in blossom around Tafraoute in February, and the Imouzzer waterfalls from January to March.
Day trip, overnight stay or one-way
A day trip there and back stays comfortable up to about two hours' drive. From three hours' drive, plan a night there or a one-way rental.
Mileage is unlimited: driving as far as Tata or Ouarzazate adds no mileage charge. Time, on the other hand, does count. The rental is calculated in 24-hour periods, any day begun beyond 2 hours is charged, and returning more than 2 hours late without prior agreement means a full day is charged. Staying an extra night? Message us on WhatsApp beforehand.
For Marrakech, Essaouira or Taroudant, we deliver or collect the car for a supplement of €60 per trip; a pick-up and a drop-off outside Agadir count as two trips. For any other city, it is on request. In Agadir, at the airport, your hotel or in the city centre, delivery is free.
On tarmac, and nothing else
Our rental conditions prohibit unpaved tracks, except for vehicles expressly suited to them. None of the destinations in the table requires a 4×4. At Paradise Valley, the tarmac takes you to the car park, then the tourist office counts about 30 minutes' walk to the natural pools. At Legzira, the tarmac stops above the beach and the descent ends on gravel: park at the end of the tarmac and finish on foot.
Fill up before long journeys: the car is returned with the fuel level recorded at delivery. Our assistance team answers 24/7. For a drop-off at the airport, we advise returning the car 2 hours before your flight: add the driving time from the table to that.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my GPS show a shorter time than this table?
The GPS gives a driving time with no breaks. Our “Time to allow” column adds a break every two hours, as NARSA recommends, plus a margin for villages and lorries. In the mountains, go by the upper end of the range.
Do you need a 4×4 to reach these 20 destinations?
No. According to OpenStreetMap, they can all be reached on tarmac roads. Our rental conditions prohibit unpaved tracks, except for vehicles expressly suited to them: if the road turns into a track, stop where the tarmac ends.
Can you return the car somewhere other than Agadir?
Yes, in Marrakech, Essaouira or Taroudant, for a supplement of €60 per trip. For any other city, it is on request. Mention it in your booking request, with the time and place you would like.
